How sedation works at Smile Clinic

An anaesthetist gives you the sedation and stays with you for the whole treatment. They watch your breathing, heart rate and oxygen the entire time. Dr. Marek and the team can work calmly, and often do more in one visit.

Sedation or general anaesthesia?

With sedation you are deeply relaxed and drowsy. With general anaesthesia you are fully asleep. Sedation suits most people. General anaesthesia is for bigger operations. We will tell you which one fits your case.

You need a medical check before sedation. You go home the same day, but only with another adult to take you.

Before and after

Before your treatment you have a short medical check, to make sure sedation is safe for you. We will tell you how long not to eat beforehand.

After the treatment you rest at the clinic until you feel steady. Someone must take you home. Don’t drive or sign anything important until the next day.

Is sedation safe?

An anaesthetist is with you the whole time and watches your breathing and heart. You also have a medical check before, so we know sedation is right for you.

€650. General anaesthesia costs €850. This is added to the price of the dental treatment itself.

Can I go home alone?

No. You go home the same day, but another adult must come with you.
